Rooted in Action
Make a Difference
Donate: Rooted In Action is a community-driven initiative aimed at creating a sustainable food-sharing network that connects local gardens with those in need. By partnering with community gardens and local service organizations such as food pantries, shelters, synagogues, and churches, Rooted In works to address food insecurity while fostering environmental sustainability and community engagement. We are a collection site where you can drop off any food or produce you might have, and we will distribute it to local food pantries and sites. Through the donation of fresh, homegrown produce, Rooted In ensures that underserved families and individuals have access to nutritious food, while encouraging volunteerism and strengthening the bonds between our community gardens and local organizations. With the support of volunteers and local residents, Rooted In is working toward a more sustainable and connected future. For more information or to drop off items for donation, please contact us at wearerootedin@icloud.com.
Give: Rooted currently supports the Kol Ami Food Pantry in White Plains, New York. Because of a reduction in funding resources, the needs of the pantry and those it serves has increased dramatically. Items needed urgently are listed on its Amazon wishlist. Please consider a direct donation through Amazon. If you would like to drop off items for the pantry, please email us to confirm arrangements.
Learn: Rooted In also is building a network of resources to connect people directly with food pantries and with organizations that provide educational programming and support for nature-based initiatives, beginning with those highlighted in the Rooted in Discussion podcast. As we develop our program, we want to hear from you! Please reach out with additional contacts and resources at wearerootedin@icloud.com.
